iFetch Interactive Ball Launcher

Overview

The iFetch ball thrower is a smart enabled product that lets you or your kids play a game of fetch with your pup. The iFetch is a nifty gadget that can easily become your dog's new favorite toy. The hardware is made of a durable construction and an easy to use design that allows any dog owner play a game of fetch with their dog.

The overall design of the unit is reminiscent of the ball launching systems you might see at a tennis court. The only real difference is the size, allowing to be easily moved around your home or yard so you can play fetch whenever you'd like.

The simple design means that you can start it up and watch your dog play a game of by himself. The large opening will let your dog return the ball to the iFetch after they've retrieved the ball. Since the device is fully automatic, it means that once he's dropped the ball back into the unit, there will be a delay of a few seconds and it will toss out the next ball.

As we examined the overall function, one of the items that seems to be missing would be a remote to allow the owner to toss the balls at will rather than based on a predetermined timer.

How Does It Work?

There are two important openings on the iFetch. The first is the ball "launch port" that's used to throw either a 1.5" or 2.5" ball - depending on the size of the iFetch purchased. The second is the ball "entry port" that accepts the tennis balls from you or your dog. iFetch put some thought into the "entry port" as it's nice and wide and looks a bit like a funnel. This should make it very easy for your dog to drop it right into the opening if you'd like to train them to do so.

The distance with either unit is easily adjustable. On the lowest setting, it will toss the ball about 10 feet, which could make for a nice game of fetch in your home. As you move outside and have more space, you can change the distance to 20 or 30 feet. While it may not be as far as you may throw the ball, but having the iFetch toss the ball around the yard for you can be a big plus in and of itself.

The one drawback we see with the smaller unit is that any pup that loves to chew may be able to chew them up pretty good due to their size. Since they're not quite as durable as a regular tennis ball, you may need to pick up some extras to make sure you can keep your pooch entertained.

If you have a larger dog, you should consider the large size since that unit makes use of a standard 2.5" tennis ball, which are more durable.

Regardless, iFetch has done a terrific job on their interactive ball launcher. It would be a great additional for any doggie parent who wants their pup to get some exercise and enjoy a game of fetch.
